Model Assessment and Extension for Responsibility-Sensitive Safety
The Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS) concept imposes rules for acceptable behavior of automated vehicles. These rules include parameters that describe properties of vehicle dynamics and human reaction. Our research focuses on quantitative RSS model validation and identification of its parameters. For this purpose, natural human driving data is analyzed from suitable datasets, like HighD or INTERACTION. Since traffic rule compliance is essential for responsible driving, we further focus on an extension towards including the right of way in crossing, merging and lane change scenarios.
